  1. I like that this question gives students an opportunity to think about how science plays into their lives, seeing science play out in everyday life is a great way to get students interested.

  2. This is a great question to have students respond to on the internet. They can process deeper thinking in that they question about the science in their own lives which makes it more real to the student.

  3. This is a great question. First, as others have said, it brings science into students' everyday, real-world experiences. Second, by tying it to something they are interested in, it sparks interest in science as well. Finally, there is a lot of opportunity for follow-up questions and activities. Good job!

  4. I love the fact that you are trying to help students make connections between science and their "real" lives. This is an important link that we should do more to emphasize! However, you may find that you need to take a smaller focus with the question and/or provide a concrete example to get thoughtful student responses. For example, you could ask them when they have come up with a hypothesis that they tested and give them an example (e.g., playing Battleship or a video game). One of the nice things about doing this as a blog activity is that students could continually add new examples as they noticed them in their lives.
